The 2008 Australian and New Zealand Standard Research Classification (ANZSRC) categorises research and development activity, and replaces the Australian Standard Research Classification (ASRC). It includes Fields of Research (FoR) and Socioeconomic Objectives (SEO). The FoR is hierarchical, comprising Divisions (2 digits), Groups (4 digits) and Fields (6 digits).

(ii) ABS Australian Standard Research Classification 1998
RFCD and SEO codes were used in the ABS Survey of Research and Development until 2008 when they were replaced by the ANZSRC.
(iii) Fields of Education
The ABS Australian Standard Classification of Education (ASCED), introduced in 2001, classifies units and courses by their subject matter (summary) [RTF, 157 Kb].
(iv) Countries and Languages
The ABS Standard Australian Classification of Countries and Languages are used in government Student and Staff Collections.
